After completing my secondary education, I sought admission and was accepted to Mashad University of Medical Sciences. I completed my medical education with honors at the age of 26 and started practicing medicine and teaching in medical school. In time, I realized that my passion lay in the stories of my patients’ lives and how they became the individuals they were. I trained in clinical psychology at the University of Montana and obtained my PhD. In order to become a specialist, I pursued postdoctoral training in couples therapy at the Institute of Contemporary Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis (ICP&P) and also in family systems theory at the Bowen Center for The Study of The Family.
In the years of my practice, I have served at the World Bank Counseling Unit, Georgetown University Counseling and Psychiatric Services, Ross Center for Anxiety and Mental Health, the University of The District of Columbia Counseling Center, and Trinitas Regional Medical Center. I currently hold the position of Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychology at the George Washington University doctor of psychology program and couples therapy Faculty at the ICP&P. I have been the clinical supervisor of psychiatric residents from St. Elizabeths Hospital (the first federally operated psychiatric hospital in the United States), doctoral and postdoctoral candidates from the George Washington University, and fellow psychologists.
"Talk therapy can significantly help anxiety and help you to understand what causes you to feel anxious in the first place."
There are many mental health providers you could choose from.
Here is why you may prefer to work with me:
Most healthcare providers are behind layers of front desk, nursing and support staff, or call centers. I am not. You can call, email, or text me directly and I will respond promptly. I also commit to finding time to speak with you at the earliest possible time. You will never have to be on a waiting list for weeks or months.
I commit to finding ways of getting you to your therapy goals. I will advocate for you and go the extra mile to ensure that your needs and expectations are met.
Once you and I confirm an appointment, we will start and end on time. You will not have to wait.
You will get top-notch quality of care that is the result of decades of training and experience. As an example, most mental health providers list couple and family therapy as part of their services but only a small percentage of them have actual training that is necessary to get results. I hold two doctoral degrees in addition to specialized post-doctoral training in couple and family therapy. If we find an issue that is not within my area of expertise, I commit to finding the right specialist and connecting you to them.
